Izzy Loves Denny: Conservative HWD’s Greatest Fears

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Arguments are rising among concerned conservative artistes – some serious, considered, concerned arguments, aimed at those pending allies who may be Hollywood conservatives’ salvation. When a critical mass of talent, leadership and money form the long-sought ‘fire-triangle’ of combustion, there will be heat. And light. And Pain.

Much PAIN.

In my book – still aborning – dubbed “Right Turn on Sunset” a chapter is entitled, “Creative Differences Are Never Singular” – and is there never a truer truism to be found among my ‘allies’ in the ‘movement’ than that long-learned reality. Continue reading

FDR’s Higher Mathematics: Different Rules for Different Fools

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

“Justice Department attorneys and Treasury Secretary Henry Morgenthau refused to accept good intentions as an excuse from a target when it came to tax return accuracy,” notes Amity Shlaes in her revised history of the Great Depression and FDR’s claim to have cured it with his confiscatory policies. This came to mind one week last fall, of the rise of The People’s Republic of Wall Street – to cite a gleeful lefty analyst of the bailout, which then was predicted to possibly reach a trillion smackers of taxpayer money. Since then, it’s likely to exceed that figure.

As lefty economists and commentariatists harp that it’s again “like the Great Depression” and similar screeds, considering Amity’s revisiting that era is worthy of spreading to the general public. Harsh were the New Dealers then, and their associates today. Notably, most firmly, in view of the easy pass, with accompanying wet-kiss, for Treasury nominee Geithner. Consider a slightly fuzzy photocopy of a personal query letter from FDR to the IRS, as included in Amity’s examination, “The Forgotten Man”: Continue reading

If I Were A Rich Donor: Mother’s Milk For ModCons

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Money is the mother’s milk of politics, proclaimed an infamous democrat speaker of the California legislature [to be unnamed: no promotion of lefties in this space]. Of course, you need a healthy calf to slurp that milk and thereby mature into a productive bull or heifer. And we have ‘em aplenty – feisty, fiery, fabulous spokesmen and women galore, ready with experience and judgment and the skills, to ‘Sully’ forth and advance a Modern Conservative Renaissance.

Renaissance Men and Women, by the bucketload. Who can utilize some mother’s milk to grow their message to the eager, thirsty public. Continue reading

Too Many Tevyes: If The World Were A Rich Man

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Ban that third staircase! Pass a law, quickly….

There are too many Tevyes in the world – and more are en route, so it is vital, absolutely VITAL, that the regulators Ban Tevye’s Dream. At the lead of this pack of wolves of regulatory incursion into Tevye’s Dream is Der Terminator himself, California’s Governator Benedict Arnold.

Ya like those plasma TV screens? Better fasten your seatbelts, Tevye – Der Governators are about to ban ‘em unless they meet energy mandates, set by burrocrats. You know the burrocrats: slow-moving, stubborn, self-centered little weasly beasts that refuse to adapt and adopt with the rest of reasonable society.

What wisdom is there in film? Consider economic wisdom in “Fiddler on the Roof” with its examination of a simple man with simple hopes dashed on the rocks of political and social turbulence. He can’t even get his daughters to abide by ‘tradition’ in choosing husbands. And he appeals to God, asking why he can’t be a rich man. Today, he’d have to appeal to the burrocrats and regulators and governators who would wag their shaming index finger – or middle finger – at his desire to express his wealth in a third staircase. Which 10 Percent? From the Hudson to Inaugural Balls

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Walking on the Hudson River, they were!

Near the USS Intrepid, passengers of an A-320 airbus seemed Obama-like, escaping a water ditching after a flight of geese took down US Airways flight 1549 out of La Guardia airport. Extended flotation capacity built into this model aircraft paid off: passengers offloaded and stood ankle-deep in frigid Hudson water, seemingly Christ-like in clear skies, even if frigid cold, and bright mid-daylighting, stretched along the wing just beneath the chilly waves.

And, no fire or smoke to obscure escape pathways! Continue reading

Muhammad Was A Mensch – Until, the Time of Sorrows

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

There is no Islam, but for the wealth of Khadija and the Sword of Ali – the Alpha and Omega of Islam’s birthing.

If ya wanna understand this long-running combat lying before us, regard carefully my citation to the Heritage Foundation, from “Patton” when the general gleams at having defeated Rommel in the desert tank-battle carnage. This follows his bedtime reviewing of Rommel’s classic tome on tank warfare, the prior night. George C. Scott bellows in his gravelly [and very un-Patton] voice:

“Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I READ YOUR BOOK.” Continue reading

Buckley v. Valeo, & Burris v. U.S. Senate

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Better than a century of campaign finance reform [CFR] legislation has floated on the dubious detritus of judicial jacobins’ ‘logic’ that infringing on the First Amendment can be allowed in order to prevent the mere “appearance of corruption” of the electoral process. While the jacobins keep the First Amendment strict and pure and untainted in almost every other realm – even pornographers and seditionists are protected more severely than are political pamphleteers – this same reasoning escapes the reasoning of the folks slamming the secretary of state of Illinois.

A so-called minor signature is the center-ring of the controversy surrounding Illinois’ prospective “junior senator” of 72 years age, Roland Burris, seeking to become the lone black senator in our national capitol. So many disregard the legal tradition of a state’s secretary of state signing such a critical document for the Senate to consider it a valid submission: that is equivalent of a notary public vouching for the validity of signatures and other aspects of a legally enforceable document. Do The Breit Thing: Big Hollywood – Overdue?

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Hundreds of ‘big name’ political and cultural writers are flowing to Andrew Breitbart’s BIG HOLLYWOOD blogsite, with Roger Simon blurbing BH on PajamasMedia [where he’s CEO, as well as a commentator/writer on The Politico] and earlier flakking on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with Howie Kurtz, followed by a headline in the Washington Times. To Kurtz, Breit-eyes said the new site would be “about helping to rebrand the conservative/libertarian and center right movements. And what we’re going to do at first is to start getting the establishment conservative culture to be paying attention to culture.”

Indeed. Continue reading

Connor’s Cry for Israel: Desperately Seeking Kilometer 101

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

Tears flowed that evening as TV’s Cronkite nudged Israel and Egypt on a promising pathway to peace. And, it actually came to pass – one lunatic nation got a bit of sanity, and an eventual withdrawal began after the 1977 Camp David accords, returning the Sinai to Arab control, rendering Israel’s western borders significantly safer. A bit at a time, of course. Trust and verify, step by agonizing step.

My tears were salty and naïve – it seemed certain, that so much would now be possible. Such historic events can fool the foolish and wise alike. Time can make a naïve poli-sci student wiser, and even experienced, educated minds can fall prey to wishful thinking. Almost two decades later, Dennis Prager had hope for and belief in the Oslo Accords. By end of Clinton’s rain of adoring accomodationist policies toward Yasir Arafat’s thugocracy, Dennis had finally ‘gotten’ it – but so many others have not, even yet. And still yet some more. Welcome to the Ghazu Strip: Gross Behavior [PBUH]!

finefrockaby Steve Finefrock, founder Hollywood Conservative Forum

To the winner goes the spoils, and now the spoilage of the Gaza Strip brings international ‘humanitarian aid’ advocacy to this place not far from Al Aqsa. How did this begin? Why can’t they just all get along? Is there a Kumbaya Chorus at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem?

Two years after the death of the Prophet [PBUH] began the reign of Umar, the second of the Rightly-guided Caliphs. Armies were swarming northward, under Umar’s shrewd scrutiny. When the Holy Land was conquered – yes, children, it was CONQUERED – a ceremony was scheduled to formally turn over the keys to Umar, by the city’s leaders. Continue reading
